IN 1978, I attended my first rock concert. I went with my older brother and his friend. I didn't speak a word to anyone. Since that time, I have been to many shows and have seen many bands. The most amazing thing about this, for me, is the fans. I have been surrounded by music lovers for over twenty years and never really got to know any of them, until I discovered Amorica. It's not a place you can drive to or see on a map, yet it is everywhere. To get there, you need to discover the Black Crowes. Amoricans are fans of the highest regard. It doesn't matter if you're a metal head or a dead head. If you follow Phish around the country, that's cool. Country, Jazz, Soul, Blues, you can love any type of music. Amoricans don't care. We are a melting pot of modern music and very diverse in our lifestyles. When I was given an opportunity to meet other Amoricans, in the summer of 2000, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I'd never really met anyone, other than my wife, who felt the music as I did. I have been blessed. Amoricans are just like me,the music is part of them. When people you've only met once are willing to travel with you, and open their homes to you, It's special. When you send and receive gifts through the mail to people whose faces you can't see, and voices you haven't heard, all for the love of music, It's special. When these people include your loved ones in their prayers, well, words cannot describe that. I consider myself both blessed and privileged to be an Amorican. There is so much to be gained and nothing to lose. There has been talk of a possible gathering of Amoricans in the year 2001. This would be unbelievable. Imagine a tiny spot in the desert being turned into Las Amorica! God Bless AMORICA! |
