Notes: There are several different versions of this song, the most notable is the first version of the song which actually appears, complete with alternate lyrics, in the middle of a Morning Song jam. This alternate version is another song with the Hollow Day Jam riff, and has not been completely identified. The debut date above is NOT this alternate song, the debut date of the alternate song is early 1992. I'll keep you posted on that info if it ever becomes clearer. This song is from the Souled Out Sessions.

Lyrics:
(version from 11/26/92)
Advice on all your common vices
lipstick and devices
a bathroom stall
bit of delirium
your life with the pendulum
silver bracelet
snake and three charms
swallow the poison
brick by brick its function
well i know when it's time to go
mass hysteria
all of it dead serious(?)
it ain't only me babe

chorus:(2x)
talk about murder
and a life full of crime
how we go on
hollow inside

Broken bones from down on the farm
lift up your sleeve
show off your arm
hometown hero with a place under the sun
can't go on living out a lie
seeing so much
so give it to him
i've got a hometown paper about a year ago(?)
run tight story we see
about you or me

chorus:(2x)
talk about murder
talk about who defies
highway to heaven
empty inside

how...how..

chorus:(2x)

(we) talk about murder
(we) talk about who defies
highway to heaven
hollow inside
