The Stones toured Europe in support of Black
and Blue. The tour featured sets similar to the 1975 Tour and again
Billy Preston guested with the band. Preston enjoyed
2 songs of his own in every set. Ronnie Wood was officially announced
as Mick Taylor's replacement on February 28th. The band was plagued
with various troubles and tragedies throughout the year. Black and Blue
met major outcry after the US advertisments chosen by the band protrayed
a bruised, battered and bound woman spread eagle over a copy of the record.
All ads were pulled and of course, the album went directly to number 1. However,
worse for the band was the death of Keith and Anita's 10 week old son, Tara, midway through
the European tour. The tour continued and the band planned a live album. |
